Techno Main Salt Lake: 69.3% Placed — and a 98% Claim That Cannot Be True
| Exams covered: WBJEE · JEE Main | State: West Bengal | Fee band: Rs 3.67 L - 4.02 L total |
|
Techno Main Salt Lake placed 657 students at 69.3% in 2022-23 — the lowest documented rate in the West Bengal set. A separate claim of 878 of 895 placed, or 98%, circulates widely. Those two figures cannot describe the same batch.

HOW YOU GET IN
Admission route for Techno India - Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL): WBJEE / JEE Main. Always confirm the current cycle's dates, eligibility and seat matrix on the official portal before you file.
TWO THINGS MOVING RIGHT NOW
1. This is the MAKAUT-affiliated college, not Techno India University. Different awarding body, different fee, different admission route. Nearly every wrong 'Techno India' number in circulation comes from mixing the two.
2. It is the cheapest private option in West Bengal at ₹3.67–4.02 lakh, with WBJEE CSE closing around 8,403–10,499 — though a competing ~18,270 figure also circulates for the same branch. Confirm the round and category.
THE HONEST READ
Cheap, but with the weakest documented coverage in the state. The fee is genuinely low and the 69.3% is genuinely low. Present both, and never repeat the 98%.
NOT Techno India University - this is the MAKAUT college, and that distinction changes the degree. WBJEE CSE closes ~8,400-10,500, tightest here after IEM.
BEFORE YOU PAY THE FIRST INSTALMENT
1. Ask for the branch-wise median — the institute figure hides the branch you are actually joining.
2. Ask for the placed-versus-eligible count, not the percentage. A count is evidence; a percentage is a claim.
3. Ask which quota or fee category the quote refers to. In this college the same seat can carry two or three different prices.
4. Diarise the counselling round you are planning for, and the refund deadline that follows it.
|
TALK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY DONE IT
Talk 1:1 with final-year students of the exact course and college you are considering. Ask them what the brochure will never tell you — how the teaching actually works, which branches get real recruiter attention, what the hostel and mess cost in year three, and what the final bill looked like. Then decide, with the full picture in front of you. We also handle end-to-end guidance on engineering form filling, counselling rounds, seat allotment, campus visits and travel.
